A slightly ecological, three colour risoprint from our own Illustrated Lab, featuring a big old bumblebee, living it’s best life in a field of wildflowers below Edinburgh Castle.

Print method: Three colour riso print: purple, orange and green. 

Riso printing is a fast, eco-friendly print process developed in Japan. The print process is similar to screenprinting – with each colour printed as a separate layer. The printer looks like a big photocopier, and uses a master stencil wrapped around an ink drum to print. This gives you an individual print each time, although substantially cheaper than traditional screenprinting since the print process is super speedy. Natural misregistration and minor “stretching” of the master are common, and a desirable quirk of the printer.
